2012: A Popular Distraction

November 18, 2009
Invariably the question is always asked, “Do you see any connection in your studies to the Mayan calendar’s end of December 21, 2012?”  or “Does that day ever pop up?” Of course, the answer is that this date plays no role in Signs of the End. But now with the movie 2012,  that will probably be an almost automatic question. Though 2012 does fall within the book’s timing for the seven year Tribulation of 2010-2017, that is the only similarity. The trouble is that the 2012 fixation is a pop culture item that does not factor in the Bible or even the Mayans themselves. It is simply a wild idea that is passed around without any substantial knowledge. It seems to be of the same mentality of those who say, “where is the promise of His coming?” The only thing the 2012 pop phenomena shows is that people do get the basic idea that that the world is heading for great change, but that they also listen to whatever the media plants in their mind.

This is what is unnerving about the 2012 phenomena, that people eagerly digest what is not true. We seem to be living in a generation that is easily led astray.  However, only one book has a track record that is reliable prophetically and only one book seriously lays out the future of this world. But this all boils down to the fact that people believe what they want to believe so that they can do whatever they wish to do without any accountability to the Creator of their souls.

The trouble is that 2012 is a few years early for the dramatic global sized judgments found in the Book of Revelation and it is a few years too late, because the problems look to begin next year. Frankly there is no biblical connection to December 21, 2012, but it would not be surprising for the Antichrist to do some public stunt on this day. However, the real issue is that 2010 seems to be the real year it all begins. Therefore, with only a few months left, time is indeed in short supply.  Hopefully a few out there will take heed and prepare–and choose to look at the truth.

This web site looks for the best scenario of the coming time in light of the Bible and history. It is not an absolute prediction.
