“But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that this day should overtake you like a thief.” 1 Thessalonians 5:4
For those who are watching for the near return of Christ, there is often the question if anything else maybe coming to help confirm the time. Now there may be further indicators, but would they really convince others that now is the time? Or do we as believers who are watching really need anymore confirmation? There must still be room for faith in what we have seen already.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. -Hebrews 11:1
In the end it will be by faith on whether or not we believe that Christ is returning at such a time as this. We have seen enough signs over the past century that demonstrate the clear words of Christ in the Olivet Discourse. World War 1 began on the 9th of Av 1914. General Allenby marched into Jerusalem without firing a shot on Hanukkah 1917. Adolph Hitler rose to power and passed his evil laws with respect to the Jews on Passover 1933. From the ashes of World War 2, Israel was reestablished as a nation in 1948. In 1967 Israel had a miracle and took the Temple Mount and Jerusalem. All of these are events were connected to the dates of the 70 year Babylonian Captivity and the Destruction of Jerusalem. But then even more were found also. The first settlement at Petah Tikva in 1878 along with the first Zionist Congress in 1897 were also timed. Then there was the Yom Kippur War of 1973, the Hezbollah-Israeli War of 2006, and Operation Cast Lead 2009 that all tied into the times.
However, not only were we limited to human events, but there were also events in the Heavens as well. There was Comet Shoemaker-Levy 1994 that slammed into Jupiter on the 9th of Av. There was also Comets Hyakutake and Hale-Bopp that marked off the sky at the same solar time as Christ’s Passover and pointed to the year of 2017. But then there were even more comets that tied into all that was being setup as well. There was Comet McNaught and Comet Holmes that were spaced at specific intervals.
But dare we ask for more?
This is but a sample of what has been seen. But there is all of the math as well that ties into significant days with exact day counts and associated themes. The odds of it all working together so precisely are frankly impossible. The tie to almost every significant time of Bible history to the time ahead of us is also impossible. The tie to the Great Pyramid, the Flood, Noah, Abraham, the Abrahamic Covenant, the entrance into the Promised Land, the fall of the Northern Kingdom, Hezekiah’s miracle on the sundial, the death of Josiah, the captivity of Judah, the fall of Jerusalem, the return to the Land, the Temple being rebuilt, the Decree of Artaxerxes, the birth and resurrection of Christ, and the destruction of the Second Temple are all in time with the coming time of 2010-2017.
It all looks like it comes down to less than 40 days and the Feast of Trumpets. But only by faith is it possible to believe what may seem impossible or unlikely to most.
When the last judgment of this caliber came, we are all surprised on how only eight made their way into the Ark. There were not many who were found qualified. Should it surprise us that it looks like a repeat? How many will be faithful on that day when Christ returns? It is true that the entire Bride of Christ is taken, but how many will earn that crown of rejoicing? Who will be ready and not caught looking another direction?
In the end it will be a test of faith. It always is. Additional signs may be nice, but it will in the end, still come down to faith. Just look at the Exodus generation. Plenty of signs, but still a lack of faith by most. Where will we be from now until that Day comes? Looking for more signs or standing on faith? It may be the calm before the storm.
In the end there have been plenty of clues. To not look for the Lord’s return on especially this Feast of Trumpets would be a mistake.
But will there be faith?
